The most recent beginning-of-year data show overall progress in reading readiness for K–2 students. Insights show:

  • More young readers are on track and fewer are far behind than at any time since the pandemic.
  • K–2 students who are far behind at the beginning of the school year, but on track by the end of the year, are likely to stay on track through third grade.
  • Overall, fewer than half of K–2 students are on track to learn to read, a troubling national trend.

mCLASS Lectura was co-developed in partnership with the University of Oregon’s Center for Teaching and Learning, and validated in partnership with Dr. Lillian Durán.

The mCLASS Lectura assessment was purposefully designed, developed, field tested, and evaluated to address the unique needs  that educators of Spanish-speaking students have demanded, but had not yet seen, in high-quality assessments.

We’re honored that you’re reviewing mCLASS: Boost Reading Edition for use with students in grades K-5.  One of the challenges of managing a classroom is the need for a single teacher to make sure every student consistently receives the right level of attention and practice in the right areas with limited class time. mCLASS: Boost Reading provides students with personalized instruction, so students can move through the program’s learning map along their own unique pathway which adapts based on individual student performance. /span>

On this site, you’ll find instructions for how to sample instructional content and access additional resources cited in our response.

Sample instructional content

Boost Reading instruction comes in the form of interactive skill games, vocabulary practice, close reading lessons, and opportunities to apply all of these skills in authentic  texts in an eReader. Teachers receive key insights into student performance across these activities. Follow the instructions below to access sample data and content.

Tap the game you wish to play. On the opening page of the game, you’ll find tiles with numbers on them that reflect the game’s level. Scroll using the right arrow to see additional levels and choose the level you wish to play.

Since games grow progressively more challenging, consider exploring the first and last level of a particular game to see the full range of skill practice.

Starting with sounds, students practice their phonemic awareness, handwriting skills, vocabulary, spelling, and grammar. They become aware of the connection between reading and writing, building confidence along the way.

Explicit, systematic instruction that works for students and teachers

Amplify CKLA Skills’ research-based scope and sequence progresses from simple to more complex skill development, starting with phonological and phonemic awareness. Instruction guides you in explicitly teaching the 150 spellings for the 44 sounds of English, with an intentional progression and review of skills to set your students up for success.

Daily 60-minute lessons cover all skills standards.

Instruction includes print and phonological awareness, sound-letter patterns, decoding and encoding, writing mechanics, and writing structure and processes. Ready-made presentation slides help you effectively deliver each lesson.

Decodable readers help students crack the code.

Amplify CKLA readers are 100 percent decodable, which means they include only words with letter-sound correspondences that have been explicitly taught. The readers are colorful fiction and nonfiction chapter books that kids love! In Grades K–1, visual supports such as underlined and bolded text scaffold students, while Big Book versions may be used for teacher modeling. Readers are also available as audio-enhanced e-books.

Boost Reading features an automatic placement tool that requires no prior assessment. The program is able to pinpoint the most effective starting point for each student and provide them an engaging reading program personalized for their exact individual needs. The program also integrates directly with Amplify’s mCLASS® with DIBELS® 8th Edition assessment as well as other third party assessments.

Biliteracy supports

Facilitated in both English and Spanish, specialized biliteracy sessions should be scheduled for teachers using both curricula and/or assessments. Sessions are available to support the use of both Amplify CKLA and Amplify Caminos core programs or mCLASSⓇ DIBELSⓇ 8th Edition and Lectura assessment programs. Substitute a biliteracy session for the 6-hour initial training in your package, or add these sessions on to your package for your biliteracy teachers.

Starting with sounds, students practice their phonemic awareness, handwriting skills, vocabulary, spelling, and grammar. They become aware of the connection between reading and writing, building confidence along the way.

Explicit, systematic instruction that works for students and teachers

Amplify CKLA Skills’ research-based scope and sequence progresses from simple to more complex skill development, starting with phonological and phonemic awareness. Instruction guides you in explicitly teaching the 150 spellings for the 44 sounds of English, with an intentional progression and review of skills to set your students up for success.

Daily 60-minute lessons cover all skills standards.

Instruction includes print and phonological awareness, sound-letter patterns, decoding and encoding, writing mechanics, and writing structure and processes. Ready-made presentation slides help you effectively deliver each lesson.

Decodable readers help students crack the code.

Amplify CKLA readers are 100 percent decodable, which means they include only words with letter-sound correspondences that have been explicitly taught. The readers are colorful fiction and nonfiction chapter books that kids love! In Grades K–1, visual supports such as underlined and bolded text scaffold students, while Big Book versions may be used for teacher modeling. Readers are also available as audio-enhanced e-books.

To ensure that there are no delays, we advise you to place your order 3–4 months prior to your first day of school. This should allow enough time for shipping and digital set up.

  • This process can take up to 12 business days.
  • You will be notified when the licensing process is complete!

Frequently asked questions

Payment processing time can vary, depending on chosen payment method, as well as banking institution. Please allow at least 10 business days for it to be processed. For additional support contact internationalsalessuport@amplify.com.

For digital licenses, you will need to submit your digital logistics information, which includes your school’s rosters data. Our technical onboarding team then needs to verify it for accuracy and completeness. (They might contact you, should they need any clarification.) The digital setup process can take up to four weeks to be completed. For help along the way, please use our Amplify Onboarding Hub.

To avoid delays, please submit your logistics information and product quantities on the Order Management Page as early as possible. Note that international shipping time varies from one country to another due to many factors, including different customs procedures. We are therefore unable to estimate and guarantee delivery time in each case. Amplify offers two international shipping options: 1. Your materials can be shipped from the U.S. directly to you, which will incur an international shipping and handling fee of 25% on the physical products ordered. 2. Alternatively, Amplify can ship your materials to a U.S. freight forwarder, and you can manage the shipping.

Note that setup communications will be sent to the contact person listed on the quote. This email is sometimes routed to the spam folder, so please check there as well. If you do not receive a link within five business days, please reach out to the customer care and support team.

In just 30 minutes of use per week, Boost Reading is proven to improve results on all DIBELS 8th Edition measures and increase the number of students on track for reading success in grades K–5, meeting ESSA’s Moderate (Tier 2) Evidence criteria.
