Thoughtful and intentional integration of technology helps save teachers time, extend their reach, and deepen their understanding of each student. Our goal is to support social, humanistic classrooms in which students are inspired to think deeply, creatively, and for themselves.

Amplify’s programs include tools that support instructional planning, student feedback, and parent communication, as explained below. Some of these tools leverage machine learning, predictive algorithms, recommendation systems, image and speech recognition, and generation technologies.

Amplify is committed to using these technologies transparently, safely, and responsibly to deliver tools and resources that continue to fulfill our purpose. We are also committed to aiding students, teachers, and our staff with the skills and understanding required to use technology effectively and fairly.

This means that whenever we use technologies that support or generate predictions, recommendations, or content, or that impact decisions, we disclose them and require human guidance while maintaining privacy and security guardrails and testing for bias and efficacy.

Amplify’s responsible technology principles

Governance and risk management: Amplify maintains a governance and risk-management program aligned to EDSAFE AI Alliance’s S.A.F.E. Benchmarks Framework and the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, which includes internal policies and procedures to support compliance and safe and responsible use of technology—including design, development, deployment, and overall implementation—in Amplify’s products and in the tools used in Amplify’s operations. The governance program applies both to Amplify-developed capabilities and third-party development and integrations.

How does Amplify ensure the privacy and security of its features?
Amplify ensures that privacy and security protections are included by default in our systems, including ensuring that student personal information is only used for educational purposes, in conformance with our policies around the collection, use, and sharing of personal information. Amplify’s applications use student personal information solely for authorized purposes, in alignment with Amplify’s Customer Privacy Policy, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), applicable state student privacy laws, and our agreements with school customers. In addition, Amplify monitors security risks specific to AI systems, including dataset poisoning, prompt injection, and adversarial attacks, and shores up resilience against attempts to alter use, behavior, or performance, or to compromise security properties. Educator-facing features

Amplify CKLA:
Teacher Tools enable educators to generate printable caregiver literacy resources aligned to classroom instruction, helping caregivers understand what’s being taught in class and how they can supplement that instruction at home. Using the tools, educators can create newsletters based on what’s happening in their classroom, translate caregiver letters into many languages, and generate take-home decodables aligned to classroom content.

Science of Reading Coach enables educators to ask questions related to pedagogy or the implementation of Amplify Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA), making instructional expertise accessible and tailored to educators’ needs. The Coach references a range of resources, from professional learning modules to Amplify CKLA to expert interviews, then answers educators’ questions, providing links to the sources of information.

Amplify Desmos Math:
The Discussion Moments feature in Amplify Desmos Math 6–8 categorizes and organizes student responses for educators during a live math lesson. Discussion Moments finds patterns in student responses and organizes those responses into categories identified by Amplify’s math experts. Discussion Moments then shares the sequenced responses with educators and offers suggested prompts to engage classroom discussion, so that educators can focus on what they do best: facilitating thoughtful math conversations. No new content is generated by this feature, and educators can decide which responses to highlight in class.

Amplify ELA:
Amplify ELA’s Automated Writing Evaluation (AWE) tools provide automated scoring of student writing that helps educators understand, track, and support student progress with key foundational skills, which are strong indicators of students’ analytic writing proficiency. AWE assesses student writing for Focus, Use of Evidence, and Conventions, providing feedback and scores that educators can review, update, and optionally send to students.

mCLASS Intervention:
mCLASS® Intervention analyzes DIBELS® 8th Edition and diagnostic assessment results and recommends small groups of 4–6 students with similar specific skill needs, generating focused 10-day lesson plans tailored to the exact literacy skills the group needs to develop. Educators can adjust groups and tailor the lesson plans.

Student-facing features*

Boost Reading:
Boost Reading Benchmark Assessment for grades K–5 supports student placement in Boost Reading for initial use of the program. Students are asked to complete a set of word recognition, fluency, and comprehension activities, and the feature optionally uses automatic speech recognition to convert student responses to text for scoring.

Boost Math:
Boost Personalized Learning (BPL) activities include guided instruction that provides responsive feedback on students’ progression through math problems. The feedback is limited to pre-programmed mathematical concepts and is delivered as audio or text.
