Grade overviews
For a quick overview of the content provided in the Amplify ELA program, take a look at our Grade overview brochure. It includes unit topics and themes, skills learned, activity highlights, texts in the unit, and essay prompts.
Planning strategies
Whether you’re using the digital program or print, you’ll find that we do everything possible to ensure you’re prepared for each day of instruction.
On the digital program, you’ll find two resources to help with planning:
- Teacher’s Guide—helps you understand and prepare for the unit.
- Lesson Guide—provides support for planning, pacing, and classroom instruction.
Teacher’s Guide
Every Amplify ELA unit includes a Teacher’s Guide, which can be accessed and printed from each unit overview page. In addition to the Teacher’s Guide, we also provide a Unit Guide. The Unit Guide contains the same information as the Teacher’s Guide and can be accessed quickly in digital format. |
Lesson Guide
Every Amplify ELA lesson includes a Lesson Guide, which can be accessed and printed from each lesson overview page. In addition to the Lesson Guide, we also provide the Lesson Brief. The Lesson Brief contains the same information as the Lesson Guide and can be accessed quickly in digital format. |
The Teacher’s Guide/Unit Guide and Lesson Guide/Lesson Brief follow the same structure for each unit and lesson. We recommend you get familiar with the components of each prior to teaching Amplify ELA.
In the print Teacher Edition, you’ll find a Table of Contents and a Unit Overview at the beginning of each unit. At the beginning of each sub-unit, we break down each lesson as shown in the image below.
Each sub-unit also includes a preparation checklist.
Lesson structure
Amplify ELA lessons follow a structure that is grounded in regular routines but flexible enough to allow a variety of learning experiences. Lesson structures vary from day to day, ensuring that students are always engaged.
Take a look at the Amplify ELA Program guide, pages 38-45, to learn more about the lesson structure.
