Join this session to discover how engineering is seamlessly integrated into the Amplify Science curriculum across grades K–8 as students design solutions to real-word problems. Join the curriculum designers from UC Berkeley’s Lawrence Hall of Science to experience their cutting-edge approach to engineering and its connections to the NGSS.
Tessaly Jen Tessay Jen is a Curriculum and Professional Learning Specialist with The Learning Design Group. Since joining the Learning Design Group team in 2014, she has been an author on many K-5 Amplify Science units and several student books. Before coming to the Lawrence Hall of Science she worked in environmental education. She earned her BS and MS in Earth Systems from Stanford University, the later focused on environmental education.
Natalie Roman Natalie Roman is a Curriculum and Professional Learning Specialist at the Lawrence Hall of Science’s Learning Design Group. She was one of the curriculum developers that authored the Amplify Science K-8 curriculum, and is currently working on the creation of two coding in science units. Before working at the Lawrence Hall of Science, Natalie taught in the Bay Area for 10 years, 7 of which were focused on middle school math and science.
