Print resources to send home for grades K–8

Amplify is providing lesson guides by grade for reading and simulation activities in the curriculum, as well as the Student Investigation Notebook pages for those activities and the student books in grades K-5. You may access the materials via this link. You no longer need passwords to access the available content.

Additional K–5 print learning opportunities

If you would like to send additional materials home with your K–5 students, here are some ideas to consider:

  • Optional notebook pages: Each Investigation Notebook in grades 25 includes optional pages that students can complete independently. These fall into three categories, and all can be found in the printable Investigation Notebook under the Printable Resources section of each Unit Guide page. The categories include:
    • Getting Ready to Read
    • Reading Reflections
    • Multiple Meaning Words
  • Homework investigations
    • From the left-hand navigation panel, select Home Investigations for a list of grade-level home investigations for families to explore.
  • Optional Unit Extensions

Classroom Slides: We have heard of some teachers sending copies of their Classroom Slides home with students to review on their own when absent. If you think this option would be appropriate for your students, download these from the Lesson Overview page of the lessons that will be missed.

Additional 6–8 print learning opportunities

If you would like to send additional materials home with your 6–8 students, here are some ideas to consider:

Digital resources

Digital access for grades K–5

We are making available a temporary family login for access to the digital Student Books (grades K5) and simulations (grades 35) for home use. This access will enable guardians to read to their students and/or set their students up for independent exploration.

  • To access digital Student Books and simulations, guardians will navigate to apps.learning.amplify.com/elementary
    • Select “Log in with Amplify” and enter the username and password:
      • Username: remotelearning@tryamplify.net
      • Password: remotelearning2020
      • Tip: You may want to use an incognito browser.
    • Select the unit the class is currently working on at school
      • Once logged in to the particular unit, the guardian will find icons for all of the student books in the unit (in English and Spanish), as well as the digital apps associated with the unit if it is in grades 2–5.
  • Note: If you have parents/guardians who might not have device access at home, you might consider letting them take physical Student Books home for the duration of the closure.

Digital access for grades 6–8

Students in grades 6–8 (and their parents/guardians) will be able to log into the curriculum website just as they can at school. If you are requesting students try to log in from home, please make sure they know their username and password.

If students have forgotten their password, the program can be temporarily accessed using the following credentials:

  • learning.amplify.com
    • Select “Log in with Amplify” and enter the username and password:
      • Username: remotelearning@tryamplify.net
      • Password: remotelearning2020

As many school districts move to remote instruction, we thought it might be a good time to remind you of some existing instructional materials located within Amplify Science. Students who have online access at home can proceed with any of these options, without direct instruction.

Video lessons for students

We have also created lesson videos for grades K-5 and grades 6-8. You may recognize these as the last units in each grade. We will be adding more videos from other units as time goes on.

All of the videos are self-guided, meaning your students can watch and do the work on their own. However, we do encourage siblings, family members, and others to watch as well and learn new things! Please share freely with your students, parents and guardians, and fellow teachers.

Device and internet requirements

All digital features of Amplify Science will work while students are at home, including the library and work submissions. It is often the case when accessing Amplify’s digital programs from home that certain devices or websites may cause errors to occur, so please refer to the following requirements.

  • For PCs and Chromebooks, students will need to use Chrome as their browser
  • For Macs, students will need to use Safari or Chrome as their browser
  • For iOS, students will need to use Safari as their browser
  • Tip: No matter which browser you choose to use, you may want to open an incognito version.
  • Technology requirements

Parent letters

We have drafted downloadable (and editable!) parent/guardian letters, which we hope will save you some time in explaining what it is you’re sending home. You can find those below for grades K–5 and grades 6–8.
